The 70thFarnborough International Airshow took place between 16 – 22 July. The biennial event showcased static and flying displays and consisted of over 70,000sqm of exhibition space with more than 1,500 exhibitors! The event spread over 7 days and combined a trade exhibition on weekdays followed by the public air show on the weekend. A fantastic experience in the UK’s oldest active airfield, and home to the first powered flight in Britain in 1908. We’re proud to have worked with 10 clients this year, successfully delivering 5 stands, 4 chalets and 2 static displays for; FLIR, Spirit Aerosystems, Qatar Airways, Derco, AIA, Proponent, Crane Aerospace and Electronics, Ultra Electronics, Textron and Moog.

Cook & Associates are proud to have completed their 18th year at EBACE. This key annual show, held at Palexpo in Geneva, is the networking event for over 13,000 business aviation professionals. The event brings together over 400 exhibitors showcasing their latest products and services, plus an impressive static display of over 50 business airplanes.
The team at Cook & Associates are always up for a challenge. When we received long-standing client Qatar Airways’ brief for ITB 2018, it really did combine all the elements needed to make this an especially memorable project. In February we received the green light to build the stand and got to work. Our team hit the ground running to design and build a luxurious double deck stand, a Q-Suite for visitors to experience the inside of QA’s business class offering and an attention-grabbing reveal event. The brief was to create “a wow effect that will be talked about. Visitors will want to come to the stand specifically to see”. The challenge …..

The brief from Qatar Airways was to create “a wow effect that will be talked about. Visitors will want to come to the stand specifically to see”. As part of the show-stopping presence we installed 160SQM of custom drop fabric to create a presentation curtain that hid the entire stand from view until the last moment. A string trio played to the audience in the packed exhibition hall as the stand was revealed – combining drama with style!

Aerospace is traditionally a key sector for the Cook & Associates’ team, with our 2017 calendar involving no less than 20 events around the world. In January and February alone, we supported 7 clients at 3 events – taking us from Kuwait and Dubai to Singapore. The Operations Team are looking to set a new record for airmiles this year already! Here’s a snapshot of these first events in the show year.

Every new year brings a new set of challenges, and 2018 is no exception for Cook & Associates. It’s something that each and every one of the team embraces with enthusiasm, particularly as over the past 3 years we have been steadily expanding into a number of new market areas, spearheaded by our busy business development team. For Sales Manager Philip Shore, the focus has been on supporting clients in a number of new and exciting markets – with the recent show calendar including some landmark events.

In 2016, GCS Business Jets was established as a brand new business unit within Panasonic Avionics Corporation, focused on providing top quality global high-speed internet and live TV services to business, private and VVIP aircraft. Top of newly appointed Product Marketing and Strategy Manager Caroline Reynolds’ agenda was to establish the new unit’s brand at three key business aviation events – using the trade show platform as a key means of fast-tracking GCS Business Jets’ international profile.
With locations in the UK, Italy and Spain as well as an extensive network in France, MDL Marinas is Europe’s leading marina group. The focus for this year’s Southampton Boat Show involved a subtle repositioning of the organisation, aiming to promote its locations as exciting leisure hubs and destinations in their own right – much more than just somewhere to keep your boat! So when planning its presence for 2017, the emphasis needed to be placed heavily on the social element – helping to reposition MDL Marinas visually and through a comprehensive range of events, launches, competitions and hospitality throughout.

This year’s DSEI was one of the busiest to date for Cook & Associates, supporting five clients with a 7-day build-up period as well as the 4 show days. As always, there were some interesting construction challenges for our 25-strong onsite team! These included accommodating a larger than expected mine clearing vehicle to feature on the front of Pearson Engineering’s stand – a giant exhibit at some 7m long by nearly 4m wide! Eye-catching stands for Revision Military, FLIR Systems, Pearson Engineering and MOOG were matched by the largest ever for Ultra Electronics. High profile events such as DSEI pose some off the floor challenges as well – with security at an all-time high, contractors including our team spent a fair bit of time either getting locked into the site or locked out, sometimes for hours at a time!
