The Design Perspective

Jamie Williams, Design Director at Cook and Associates, provides some insights into the design process, and the essential contribution made by his team.

The role of the designer is pivotal within the exhibit and event arena, with clients dependent on creative ideas that capture the attention and imagination, and make the exhibit stand out from the crowd. The design challenges include finding a balance between compliance and reinforcement of a client’s corporate design guidelines, while presenting the company, its products and services in the most creative and impactful way. This increasingly involves taking into account a host of other elements – from broader issues such as an exhibit’s carbon footprint, to the deployment of ground-breaking display technology. Ultra Electronics at DSEi 2013

The brief from Cook & Associates’ client, Ultra Electronics Holdings plc, for the 2013 DSEi show in London was to do something dynamically different. In the past, the internationally successful defence, security, transport and energy company had focused on exhibiting its individual business lines. For this year, the approach was to focus on the full portfolio of defence and security solutions, centred around customer need.

Behind the Scenes – People News

Cook & Associates is firmly committed to the concept of training new talent, running a number of concurrent apprenticeship placements during the past twelve months.
