Plugged into clients’ needs for Electronica 2018

Electronica is the world’s leading trade fair and conference for electronics, which has occurred biennially for over 50 years. We were excited to be returning for our second Electronica, with clients wanting to create show-stopping exhibits. Split across the course of four days, this event received 2,913 exhibitors from 50 countries, all of whom were looking to standout and exceed the expectations of the 73,451 visitors.

We were delighted to be working at Electronica 2018, with four clients all looking to raise the bar from their 2016 exhibits. Electronic Specifier, Europe’s premier publisher of information resources to the global electronics industry, set the objectives of a refreshed design, that still comprises of a welcoming hospitality area with an eye-catching presence. Excited by this proposition, our team fashioned a strengthened design that was approachable and featured a show exclusive competition, private meeting room and an inviting hospitality area for entertainment. Tim Anstee, Director at Electronic Specifier said:

“We’ve had a great experience working with Cook & Associates at Electronica 2018. We chose Cook & Associates over other companies for a couple of reasons, firstly for the excellent service we had two years ago. Secondly, because they came out with some new ideas for the show this time that really impressed us, and they delivered it to budget and on time.”

In addition to their stand, Electronic Specifier also had a custom fit out for their new magazine called Startups. A publication launched earlier this year aimed at the startup community. It covers the latest project news and stories in the sector. As an additional display to the main exhibit, the Startups Magazine stand, reflected the brand perfectly, with editor and founder Daisy Stapley-Bunton stating:

“Cook & Associates have really taken into consideration what Startups Magazine is as a brand. 100% I will be using Cook & Associates again.”

Velocity Electronics, a certified stocking distributor and outsourced procurement services provider, handed us a brief for a double deck stand this year to increase their show presence and amplify meeting space with an upstairs VIP lounge.

The clear on-brand design of the Velocity Electronics stand, complete with strong graphics, was approachable from its three open sides. An open plan seating area on the bottom deck was complimented nicely with a reception area, information desk, meeting room and an interactive touchscreen.  Whilst the top deck played host to Velocity Electronics VIP clientele, with a balcony seating area equipped with a complimentary bar and another private meeting room. Melissa Lewinski, Sales Operations Manager at Velocity Electronics stated:

“It’s been a pleasure working with Cook & Associates, we worked with them back in 2016. They followed up very early on so the deadlines were very easy to meet. With all of the information, notes and requests we provided, they were able to visualise and conceptualise that for us. It was a very easy and seamless process… overall a really great experience.”

Having celebrated their centenary at this year’s Electronica, KEMET Electronics who are a leading global supplier of electronic components, really impressed with this year’s brief. A key challenge set by KEMET Electronics was delivering a consistent and memorable brand event. We focused on new ways of elevating KEMET Electronics brand, applying exciting display technologies and creating an open, inviting look and feel. We incorporated a meeting management system to streamline their meeting process and added butler call buttons to meeting rooms for an enhanced hospitality experience. Another important component to executing this brief, was the integration of new technologies to increase interaction on the stand and get people talking.

Technologies included augmented reality, the latest object recognition solutions for product displays, and touchscreen demonstration stations. For some after-show entertainment, the team put together an exciting programme featuring a DJ, an electric violinist and a magic mirror, complemented by international food stalls to reflect KEMET Electronics global activities in markets such as America, Asia and Europe. Wilmer Companioni, Technical Marketing Manager for KEMET Electronics said:

Working with Cook & Associates has been a fantastic experience. They’re definitely very much focused on the service side of things besides from just building the booth. Anything we need they’re ready, they’re right there and they’re willing. It’s been a night and day difference working with someone like Cook & Associates versus some of our other partners.”
