Introducing Jas – our budding digital marketing talent!
Jasmine (Jas) Taylor is the latest recruit to join our apprentice scheme, joining the Sales Team under the supervision of business development manager Tom Hawes. This is the 7th year of our graduate and apprenticeship induction programme – five of our apprentices are now full-time employees, underlining the scheme’s all-round success.
Jas made the decision to go down the apprenticeship route in order to combine her desire to gain qualifications with real-world experience, something she felt that a university degree per se would not deliver. She signed up with 3aaa, an organisation that specialises in the delivery of professional services apprenticeships, including Jas’ chosen field of Digital Marketing.
After jumping into the high-octane exhibition management sector, Jas feels she is benefiting on all fronts:
“The last few months have been really character building! The great thing is to work with lots of people with different skills and backgrounds, in a real team environment. This is something that I didn’t feel I could get as part of an academic only degree. I am working within the sales department, with Tom acting as my mentor and have already experienced several show build-ups and walk-rounds, which has given me a real insight into the business. I also work closely with our marketing team associates, developing our Social Media and mailshot programmes, which I find really beneficial. I combine my day-to-day activities at Cook & Associates with a monthly training day at college, and fulfill regular assignments. The ultimate goal is to complete my Level 3 and then hopefully move onto the Level 4 Foundation Degree.”
A New Face in the Project Management Team – Brad Hough
Brad recently joined us as Senior Project Manager to augment the busy project management team, bringing an extensive skill set gained from working within the exhibition contract sector, after studying for an Events Management Degree.
Unusually, Brad also has experience of working in a hectic graphics department during his time at GES, giving him an invaluable insight into other disciplines within the exhibition management environment.
One of his key specialisations is Health & Safety, and he has taken on an active role in reviewing and developing our H&S policies, in line with the constantly changing regulations.
Brad’s feet haven’t really touched the ground since joining Cook & Associates, flying out to NBAA in Orlando straight away and travelling extensively around the Middle East and Europe – all in a few short months!
Over to Brad:
“The work is very varied, with lots of site work at different shows around the world. I spend the majority of my time on the road now! It involves a lot of multi-tasking and a really wide range of projects – something I personally find very rewarding.”
On the home front, Brad is recovering after a two-year DIY house renovation project – with the travelling giving him time to recover!
