There is one bi-ennial event that reflects the entire world of electronics – Electronica in Munich. With 2,750 exhibitors and over 70,000 visitors in 2016, it has grown over the last 50 years into a mammoth event – occupying 143,000 square metres across 13 halls.

For Electronic Specifier, Europe’s premier publisher of information resources to the global electronics industry, the objectives for the 2016 show focused on two key elements: a welcoming and spacious hospitality area, and an eye-catching presence to attract visitors and help build ES’ database. The key methodology for collecting contact details involved pass scanning either at the stand or at one of 4 satellite sites around the Messe. Scanning guaranteed entry into a competition for a Smart Watch.

Cook & Associates came up with a new-look stand that combined a strong open design with striking graphics also featuring the smart watch competition, as well as a 60-foot screen and UV lighting feature. This was a departure from previous ES stands, which had tended to be enclosed and symmetrical.

The stand featured a spacious meeting/hospitality area for entertainment, with a large bar – supported by a private meeting room, large store and small office space. Feedback from the show was extremely positive.

Also taking part at Electronica 2016 with a stand from Cook & Associates, Velocity Electronics tasked the team with evolving the 2014 design. The brief was to create a welcoming meeting and hospitality environment, with plenty of storage.

Velocity Electronics is a leading supply chain partner to the world’s leading contract manufacturers and OEMs, acting as a certified stocking distributor and outsource procurement services provider. At Electronica, the emphasis was on providing a welcoming meeting and hospitality space with an open, clean look.

The design for 2016 was configured to provide two private meeting rooms along with large open areas complete with a bar area and seating. In addition, Velocity Electronics needed space for two private meeting rooms, and a large storage area.

Overall, the result was an exciting new-look yet cost-effective stand based on the original that created the right ambience and ticked all the boxes.
